Sept. 28, 2019 (Hiram, Ohio)- The DePauw University volleyball team swept Hiram College in its first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) match of the season (25-18, 25-22, 25-16).
In set one of the match, the Tigers were hitting just above its average .207 percentage, which helped create substantial scoring opportunities. That combined with only four errors in comparison to Hiram's ten allowed DePauw to pull ahead later in the set.
Set three required a bit more from the Tigers. Hiram managed to tie the set six times before DePauw won the set 25-22 thanks to a service ace by Jenna Purichia and back-to-back kills by Morgan Stearley.
The third set was a strong finish for the Tigers. With 18 kills recorded and a hitting percentage of .317, DePauw stifled the Terriers chances of a comeback efficiently, closing the set 25-16.
DePauw (9-5, 1-0 NCAC) remains on the road to play the Allegheny College Gators on Sunday, Sept. 29. Its second NCAC of the season has a match start time of Noon.
