Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers dropped their opening match of the DePauw Tigers Invitational by a 3-1 count to Mount Union, but came back for a 3-1 victory over Rose-Hulman. DePauw stands at 7-3 headed into tomorrow's matches against Hanover and Muskingum.
In the loss to Mount Union, the Purple Raiders took the opening two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-23 before the Tigers took the third, 25-19. Mount Union wrapped up the match with a 25-20 fourth-set win.
DePauw held a 66-56 advantage in kills, but Mount Union outhit the Tigers .256-.196. Suzanne Peters paced DePauw with 22 kills and a .286 attack percentage, while Morgan Stearley and Liv Hartman each added 16. Mount Union's Brooke Knollman led with 15 kills.
In the Rose-Hulman match, DePauw held a 59-46 edge in kills and outhit the Engineers, .262-.106. Peters led DePauw with 19 kills with Hartman and Stearley each adding 13. Bailey MacInnis led Rose-Hulman with 16 kills.
Kollias led DePauw with 44 assists with Katie Orbeta pacing the Engineers with 27. For the second straight match, DePauw totaled four aces. Stearley led with 22 digs, while Meaghan Etling had five block assists. Rose-Hulman's Gabi Razma had a team-high 22 digs.
