St. Louis, Mo. - DePauw got its 2016 season off to a big start with a pair of 3-1 wins in Washington University's Baden Invitational. After topping Edgewood in their opening match, the Tigers knocked off sixth-ranked Washington for the first time in school history.
After splitting its first two sets with Edgewood, DePauw picked up wins in the third and fourth sets for the win.
Suzanne Peters led with 11 kills, while Keegan Kollias set 31 of the Tigers' 45 kills. Rachael Lenderman, Kollias and Elisabeth Wilson each finished with two aces with Lendermann leading the way with 21 digs. Wilson totaled six of DePauw's 14 block assists.
In the Washington match, DePauw opened with a 25-19 win in the first set before the Bears evened the match with a 25-17 victory in the second. The Tigers took the win with 25-19 and 25-21 triumphs in the final two sets.
Peters led with 15 kills with Wilson totaling 11. Kollias assisted on 42 of the Tigers' 45 kills, while Lenderman led with 23 digs and Meaghan Etling with three block assists.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday with an 11:30 a.m. CDT match against Rose-Hulman and a 3:30 p.m. CDT contest with Hanover.
