Tigers Place Fifth at Own Invitational; Gruszka Wins Two Races

Greencastle, Ind. - Led by Natalie Gruszka's wins in the 800 and 1500 meters, DePauw totaled 60 points and finished fifth among six schools at the DePauw Invitational. Illinois Wesleyan won with 177 points and Rose-Hulman was second with 144.5.

Gruszka topped the 800 field in 2:28.14 and the 1,500 in 5:02.60. In all, the Tigers totaled 23 points in the 1,500 as Gabby Coffing was third (5:10.50) followed by Tori Flowers in fifth (5:12.20) and Meghan Hennessey in sixth (5:16.60).

Also in the 800, Coffing was fourth (2:34.55) and Flowers seventh (2:38.90).

Emily Wilson placed fourth in the high jump (1.51m/4-11.5), while Mackenzie Jones was fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:15.95). Emily Schabes finished seventh in the 400 meters (1:07.92) and Ellie Reece was eighth in the 200 meters (28.86).

The Tigers' 4 x 400 relay was second in 4:36.61.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 14, when it hosts the Indiana Division III Championships.
