Tigers Finish Sixth in Opening Outdoor Meet of 2018

Terre Haute, Ind. - DePauw opened the outdoor portion of its schedule at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird and finished sixth with 59 points. Baldwin Wallace won with 187 and Rose-Hulman was second at 143.

Natalie Gruszka posted the Tigers' lone win with a first in the 800 meters (2:26.35). Gabby Coffing was fifth in the event (2:33.58) and was also third in the 1,500 meters (5:10.65).

Also finishing third was Emily Wilson in the high jump (1.48m/4-10.25).

The Tigers picked up 10 points in the 5,000 meters led by Meghan Hennessey in fourth (18:29.21), Haley Thompson in fifth (18:34.95) and Riley Hickman eighth (19:06.38).

Other fourths came from Hannah Adams in the javelin (27.77m/91-1) and Tori Flowers in the 1,500 meters (5:11.46).

Taylor Myers was fifth in the 200 meters (28.51) and sixth in the 100 meters (13.83), while Ellie Reece was sixth in the 400 meters (1:08.87) and Emily Shabes right behind in seventh (1:08.88). Madison Bahr rounded out the DePauw scorers with an eighth in the 1,500 meters (5:32.77).

DePauw returns to action on March 30-31 at the Hilltop Classic at Birmingham-Southern.
