Indianapolis, Ind. – The DePauw women's tennis team advanced in the 2018 NCAC Women's Tennis Championship with a 6-0 victory over Wooster in the first round.
Wooster entered as the higher seed at No. 4, but the fifth-seeded Tigers had little problem downing them on Friday. In doubles play the No. 1 team of Megan Galle and Sarah Wilder, as well as the No. 2 team of Meredith Breda and Amanda Showalter left with 8-2 wins. The No. 3 team of Alyssa Seneviratne and Colleen Morris took an 8-0 win.
Galle won at No. 2 singles 6-1, 6-2, Breda won at the No. 3 flight 6-1, 6-1, and Wilder took a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot. The remaining matches were left unfinished.
DePauw moved to 8-12 with the win, while Wooster dropped to 15-4.
The Tigers will play No. 1 seed Kenyon at 1 p.m. Saturday. The two teams met in February earlier this year where Kenyon took an 8-1 win.
