Greencastle, Ind.- After an up and down season in 2013 the DePauw women's soccer team, under the leadership of first-year head coach Megan McCormick, will look to compete for a conference crown and a trip back to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
The Tigers were picked to finish fourth in the 2014 North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll, behind Allegheny, Wittenberg and Denison.
Last season, DePauw finished fourth in the NCAC regular season standings with a 5-3 record and had a 10-9 overall mark. After an 0-4 start to the season the Tigers won 10 of their next 12 contests and contended for the top spot in the conference.
Returning for the Tigers are All-NCAC Second Team selections Megann Lear, Chloe Jacob and Jennifer Dimos. Lear tallied three goals and a team-high eight assists, while Jacob added three goals and five assists. Dimos played a major role in DePauw's defensive alignment notching one goal and one assist as well.
All-NCAC Honorable Mention honorees Stephanie Martin and Caroline Zadina will be looking to improve after both having strong sophomore seasons. Martin scored four goals and tallied two assists, while Zadina netted three goals. Additionally, leading goal scorer Elizabeth Seewer will look to provide an offensive spark for the Tigers.
DePauw opens the 2014 regular season against Birmingham Southern in the DePauw Classic on Friday, August 29, at the newly built Reavis Stadium.
