Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw and Ohio Wesleyan were tied 5-5 with 17 minutes left, but the Tigers closed the game with a 7-0 run and claimed a 12-5 North Coast Athletic Conference win over the Battling Bishops. The Tigers improved to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the NCAC, while Ohio Wesleyan dropped to 9-7 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
The game, which was tied, 3-3, at the half was tied five times with five lead changes after Ohio Wesleyan's Sloane Baumgartner evened the count at 5-5 with 18:05 left. Emma Kennedy gave DePauw the lead just 1:10 later and Grace Clarke extended it to 7-5 at the 10:50 mark. Caleigh Ranjo and Kennedy each scored before Clarke added three more in the final 6:05 for the win.
Clarke led the Tigers with five goals and three assists, while Kennedy followed with four scores. Baumgartner paced Ohio Wesleyan with four goals and Megan McElgunn had two assists.
DePauw's Kathryn Hopkins recorded six saves, while Ohio Wesleyan's Kelly Coffyn stopped 19 DePauw shots.
DePauw outshot the Battling Bishops, 37-16, including 27-7 in the second half. The Tigers also held a 30-14 edge in ground balls and had an 11-8 edge in draw controls. Ohio Wesleyan had 29 turnovers to the Tigers' 22.
Kennedy paced the Tigers with five draw controls with Clarke and Emily Howard each totaling four ground balls. Howard also led with five caused turnovers. Jenn Douglas paced Ohio Wesleyan with five draw controls, while Maddie Lancaster totaled four ground balls and four caused turnovers.
DePauw wraps up the season on Saturday with an 11 a.m. NCAC contest at Wooster.
