Tigers Drop Season Opener at Chicago

Chicago, Ill. - Host Chicago scored just 1:18 into the contest and didn't let up on the way to an 18-4 win over DePauw in the season opener for both schools.

The Maroons' Karina Schulze scored twice in the opening 3:09 before DePauw's Grace Clarke countered with 24:21 remaining in the half. However, Chicago scored the final 11 of the half and led, 13-1, at the intermission.

Caleigh Ranjo, Clarke, Emily Howard and Kate Flynn each scored once for the Tigers with Flynn adding an assist.

Schulze led Chicago with eight goals.

Kathryn Hopkins recorded six saves for the Tigers and Honor Crandell finished with two for the hosts.

Chicago outshot DePauw, 31-12 and held a 29-25 edge in ground balls. The Tigers had 28 turnovers to Chicago's 23 and the Maroons led 18-5 in draw controls.
