Meadville, Pa. - Emma Flynn's goal in the second overtime gave DePauw a 14-13 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Allegheny and its second straight overtime victory over the Gators. The Tigers improved to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the NCAC, while Allegheny dropped to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
The Tigers trailed by as much as 6-1 in the first half and were still down, 8-4, at the intermission. DePauw tied the contest twice in the second half before scoring four straight capped by Ellie Strauch's free position goal with 6:01 remaining to make it 13-10.
Allegheny forced the overtime with a 3-0 run that included goals with 1:14 and 41 seconds remaining.
The teams then battled through a scoreless first overtime before Flynn delivered the game-winner on an assist from Emily Scinta.
Alexa Maloney paced Allegheny with four goals with Maddie Olson and Shelby Piper each scoring three. Kaelin Clogan stopped 11 DePauw shots.
Emily Denny paced the Tigers with eight draw contols with Maria Ellison and Annie Barrett each collecting three ground balls.
Jessie Thiessen had six draw controls for Allegheny with Katie Weiss and Clogan each finishing with four ground balls.
Allegheny led in shots, 34-31 as well as ground balls, 26-19, but DePauw held a 19-12 advantage in draw controls and converted 5-of-9 free position shots.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 22, with a Noon game at Wooster.
