Meadville, Pa. - DePauw shot 53.7 percent from the floor and scored a season-high 90 points while capturing a 90-54 North Coast Athletic Conference win over host Allegheny. The Tigers, ranked seventh in the latest coaches' poll and eighth by D3hoops.com, improved to 21-1 overall and 13-0 in the NCAC with their 17th straight win. Allegheny dropped to 5-15 overall and 2-10 in the NCAC.
DePauw jumped out to a big, early lead after scoring the game's first five points and later scoring 10 straight to grab a 17-3 advantage just 4:22 into the contest. The Tigers led by as many as 18 in the opening quarter before taking a 29-13 lead into the second after shooting 72 percent from the field in the period. Hiram closed to within 11 in the second, but DePauw scored 14 consecutive to grab a 43-18 lead. The Tigers led 45-22 at the halftime intermission. DePauw's lead reached as many as 41 points as the third quarter ended.
DePauw held a 44-30 edge on the boards as Keefe grabbed eight. Madison Caufield paced Allegheny with seven rebounds. Howard and Emma Lemasters each dished out three assists and Howard recorded three steals in the win. Rylee Donovan had seven assists for the Gators.
The Tigers topped the 50 percent plateau for the third time this season and held Allegheny to just 36.7 percent. DePauw committed a season-low six turnovers to the Gators' 13.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, February 7, when it hosts Denison at 8 p.m.
