Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw guard Sydney Kopp scored a game-high 27 including 18 in the first quarter to lead #15/18 DePauw to a 75-41 North Coast Athletic Conference win over Allegheny. The Tigers moved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC, while the Gators dropped to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in NCAC play.
Kopp hit all seven of her first-quarter field goal tries including four 3-pointers. Her trey with 41 seconds left in the stanza capped a 16-2 run that expanded a 2-point lead to 16 on the way to a 30-14 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
DePauw led by as many as 18 in the second quarter before heading to the intermission with a 41-27 advantage. The Tigers put the game away in the third after scoring the first 13 points to push the lead to 54-27.
Kopp's 27 was two shy of her career best and included 5-of-7 shooting from 3-point range. Claire Keefe added 13 in the win. Kopp also shared rebounding honors with Melinda Franke as each grabbed seven. DePauw held a 52-25 advantage on the boards including 23 on the offensive glass for a 30-7 edge in second-chance points. Maya Howard dished out a game-high five assists.
Zoe Soilis paced Allegheny with eight points and Madison Caufield grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Tigers shot 41.8 percent from the floor including 54.8 percent in the first half, while Allegheny shot 27.5 percent for the game and just 17.2 percent in the second half.
DePauw travels to Wittenberg on Wednesday, December 6, for a 7:30 p.m. NCAC game.
