DePauw Moves Up Five Spots in Both National Polls

travelstead0708.jpgFebruary 3, 2009, Greencastle, Ind. — Coming of weekend wins over Trinity (77-57) and Southwestern (69-46), the 17-3 Tigers moved up five spots in the two national polls.

DePauw moved to 18th in the latest poll with 187 points and 19th in the USA Today ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll with 67 points.

Illinois Wesleyan tops both polls with all 10 first-place votes in the coaches' poll and 24 of the 25 in the rankings. DePauw dropped a 77-76 decision to the Titans on November 21. The Tigers also faced another top 10 team in Oglethorpe (ranked seventh in both polls) on December 5 and lost on the road by an 84-81 score.

Since the Top 25 Poll began in 1999-2000, DePauw has at least received votes in 149 of the 150 polls and is making its 115th appearance in the top 25. The Tigers have received votes in 139 straight polls.

DePauw travels to Birmingham-Southern on Friday, February 6, where it puts its 14-game win streak on the line.
