17th-ranked Tigers win fifth straight


zondor122904.jpgJanuary 30, 2005, Danville, Ky. - Sarah Zondor scored 17 including nine straight in a two-minute stretch of the first half to lead 17th-ranked DePauw to a 76-48 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference victory at Centre.

DePauw improved to 17-3 overall and 8-1 in the SCAC with its fifth straight victory, while the Colonels dropped to 3-16 overall and 1-8 on the conference.

Zondor's third straight three-pointer of that early stretch made her the eighth player in DePauw history to reach 1,000 career points and the 39th in the history of the SCAC.

The Tigers shot 52 percent in the first half on the way to a 37-21 halftime advantage and then connected on 56 percent over the final 20 minutes to stretch the lead to as many as 31.

Amy Argetsinger added 12 points and Gretchen Haehl matched Friday's career high with 11.Argetsinger and Lindsay Houin each hauled down six rebounds as the Tigers held a 34-23 advantage on the boards.

Sarah Sheeran paced Centre with 14 points with Lauren Clontz adding 11. Jayme Davis grabbed a game-high seven rebounds in the loss.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, February 3, at Rose-Hulman. The 6 p.m. contest can be heard live on WGRE.
