DePauw Opens NCAC Play with Sweep at Ohio Wesleyan

Delaware, Ohio - DePauw scored 17 runs and pounded out 22 hits on the way to a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep at Ohio Wesleyan by scores on 10-1 and 7-1. DePauw improved to 11-9 overall and 2-0 in the NCAC, while the Battling Bishops dropped to 5-15 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC.

Mac Jones put the Tigers on the board in the first inning of the first game with a double that scored Abey Bass. Kat Panos made it 2-0 in the third with a single that plated Grace Smith.

Aimee Duckworth's solo homer in the third for Ohio Wesleyan cut the lead in half, but the Tigers responded with three in the fourth and five in the fifth for the win.

Jordyn Fera, Sydney Holler and Chase Epp each had two of DePauw's 11 hits, while six different Battling Bishops collected one hit apiece.

Ali Dierks improved to 1-0 with the win, while Nicole Peak dropped to 3-2.

In the second game, the Tigers scored five in the opening inning as Jones drove in the first two with a homer before Paige Price, Panos and Katerina Kilgore each added RBI singles.

Jade Mejia Wick hit a solo homer in the fourth and drove in Kilgore with a single in the sixth to wrap up the Tigers' scoring. Peak put Ohio Wesleyan on the board in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly.

Mejia Wick, Becca St. Germain and Panos each had two of DePauw's 11 hits, while four different Battling Bishops collected one hit each.

Cami Henry improved to 6-5 after allowing an unearned run on four hits with nine strikeouts and no walks. Erica Buchanan dropped to 1-6.

DePauw hosts Allegheny on Saturday, April 6, in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
