Greencastle, Ind. - Behind the five-hit pitching of Cami Henry, DePauw won game two of its doubleheader against seventh-ranked Illinois Wesleyan by a 4-1 score to earn a split of the twinbill after the Titans took the first game, 13-5. The Tigers moved to 9-9, while Illinois Wesleyan is now 13-4.
The Titans, however, struck with two in the second and three each in the third and fourth innings for an 8-1 lead.
St. Germain drove in Alyssa Nowak in the bottom of the fourth with a single before Kat Panos drew a bases loaded walk that scored Paige Price. Kate Geary's double to right center plated Grace Smith and Mac Jones to cut the lead to 8-5.
Illinois Wesleyan scored two more in the fifth and three in the sixth and kept the Tigers off the board to end the game after six due to the run rule.
St. Germain paced the Tigers with two of their eight hits, while Mia Massaro, Shelby Fulk, Julie Josten and Kara Bischoff each had two of the Ttians' 11 hits.
Julia Bork dropped to 1-1 with the loss, while Brea Walker improved to 6-1.
Sam Berghoff's solo homer in the first gave Illinois Wesleyan a 1-0 lead in the nightcap before DePauw responded with two in the second on an RBI fielder's choice from Nowak and Kaylyn Linder's squeeze bunt.
Smith's squeeze bunt in the fifth made it 3-1 before St. Germain followed with an RBI single to left center.
Abey Bass had two of DePauw's four hits with five different Titans totaling one hit apiece.
Henry improved to 5-5 after allowing one run and five hits with seven strikeouts. Ally Wiegand dropped to 7-2 after striking out seven without a walk.
DePauw opens North Coast Athletic Conference play tomorrow with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader at Ohio Wesleyan.
