Tigers Advance to NCAC Championship Game after 2-0 Win at Wittenberg

Springfield, Ohio - DePauw pitcher Brooke Bandy pitched a shutout and the Tigers scored single runs in the fourth and seventh innings for a 2-0 victory over top-seed and host Wittenberg in the winner's bracket of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. DePauw improved to 22-20 and will play next at 2 p.m. on Saturday in the championship game of the double-elimination tournament. Wittenberg dropped to 24-16 and faces the winner of tomorrow morning's elimination game between Allegheny and Denison.

Lauren Godden led off the DePauw fourth with a single and pinch-runner Sarah Beischer advanced to second on Alyssa Nowak's grounder. Sidney Holler followed with a single to center, scoring Beischer. 

Abey Bass singled with one out in the seventh and moved to second on Liz Getz's bunt single. Kaylyn Linder reached on a fielder's choice which scored Bass. 

Wittenberg left eight runners stranded in the game including three in the first inning and two more in the second.

Getz had two of DePauw's eight hits, while Victoria Toetz paced Wittenberg with three of its eight hits with Olivia Hopkins adding two.

Bandy improved to 3-1 with the shutout and struck out five. Chelsea Zang dropped to 9-7.
