DePauw Pitches Shutout in Sweep at Oberlin

Oberlin, Ohio - DePauw's offense totaled 19 runs, while the defense played errorless ball and recorded two shutouts in gaining a North Coast Athletic Conference sweep at Oberlin by scores of 13-0 and 6-0. The Tigers improved to 16-17 overall and 10-2 in NCAC play, while Oberlin dropped to 6-24 overall and 1-13 in conference play.

In the opener, the Tigers scored in each inning but one with three in the first, one each in the third and fourth, two in the fifth and six in the sixth.

Jordyn Fera led the Tigers' 16-hit attack with a 4-for-5 performance, while Sidney Holler had three. Becca St. Germain and Alyssa Nowak each added two in the win.

Brooke Bandy pitched a two-hit shutout for the Tigers with six strikeouts and just one walk on the way to improving to 2-0. Sandra Kibble suffered the loss and dropped to 1-6.

In the second game, DePauw broke a scoreless tie with three in the fourth before adding one in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Holler had two of DePauw's seven hits and drove in three runs. Dani Pechthalt and Emily Tucci each had two of Oberlin's seven hits.

Emma Baldwin improved to 6-8 with the complete game shutout in which she struck out 11 and walked two. Tucci dropped to 4-11.

DePauw returns to action on Tuesday, April 24, when it travels to Denison for a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader.
