Tigers Drop Opening Game of Illinois Wesleyan Tourney; Second Game Postponed

Bloomington, Ill. - Anderson scored two runs in the top of the seventh and took a 6-5 win over DePauw in a back-and-forth game at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament. DePauw moved to 8-15, while Anderson is now 6-9. The Tigers' second game against Illinois Wesleyan was postponed and will be played May 1 at DePauw.

DePauw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first as Becca St. Germain doubled with two outs and Lauren Godden followed with an RBI single to center.

The Ravens evened the count in the third as Tara Morey led off with a walk, moved to second on Annilou Belvo's sacrifice bunt and to third on DJ Martz's single. Morey scored when Brooke Walden reached on an error. 

The Tigers regained the lead in the bottom half of the frame as Kaylyn Linder led off with a double, moved to third when St. Germain reached on a fielder's choice and scored after Godden reached on a fielder's choice.

Anderson took a 4-2 lead in the fifth on Martz's RBI grounder and Walden's two-run homer. The Tigers countered in the bottom of the fifth as Linder singled and came home when St. Germain homered to left to even the score at 4-4.

Jordyn Fera's solo homer in the sixth put DePauw ahead, 5-4, but Anderson answered in the seventh with Walden's sacrifice fly that scored Belvo and Lex Gray's single that plated Martz.

DePauw had a pair of base runners in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't score.

Fera led DePauw with three of its nine hits with Linder and St. Germain adding two each. Martz and Gray each had two of the Ravens' eight hits.

Emma Baldwin dropped to 3-7 with the loss with Anderson's Morgan Masters improving to 1-2.

The Tigers wrap up play in the tournament on Sunday with an 11 a.m. game against Buena Vista and a 3 p.m. contest against Anderson.
