Greencastle, Ind. – Boosted by a six-run fifth inning, Wittenberg knocked off Ohio Wesleyan 7-3 in Game 3 of the North Coast Athletic Conference Softball Tournament to stay undefeated in the winner's bracket.
Just like in Game 1, Wittenberg came back from behind. The Tigers trailed 2-0 after Ohio Wesleyan scored in the third before erupting for six in the fifth.
Casey Hobbs put the Tigers immediately up front with a three-run jack. The following single from Rachel Black chased Ohio Wesleyan starting pitcher Allie DeLooze out of the game.
Bianca Sibilly relieved DeLooze but gave up a two-run home run to her first batter, Charlee Clark, which was her first home run of the season.
Those runs proved to be enough as both teams traded a run in the sixth. Chelsea Zang (17-4) picked up the win for the Tigers, while DeLooze (7-8) took the loss.
For the Tigers, Hobbs finished 4-for-4 with three RBI. Black was 2-for-3 and Clark was 1-for-3. Abby Baker was 1-for-1 with an RBI in pinch hitting duties. The Tigers collected 15 hits in the game.
For Ohio Wesleyan, Erin Ferguson went 2-for-4 and Lareese Marston went 2-for-3. Sarah Flint was 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Wittenberg moves to 31-6-1 and Ohio Wesleyan is 16-20.
