Martin's Win Leads DePauw to Seventh-Place Finish

Chicago, Ill. - DePauw's Cole Martin won the gold division of the Loyola Lakefront Invitational and led the Tigers to a seventh-place team finish. DePauw totaled 212 points, while team champion Marquette won with 49.

Martin covered the 8,000-meter course 25:57.85 and finished nearly six seconds ahead of the runner-up. Ford Baker followed in 15th (26:25.14), while Michael Ocasek was 67th (27:40.46) and Miles Main 75th (27:50.02).

Callaway Bird crossed in 28:01.30 to finish 84th with Jacob Bailey finishing in 28:09.71 and Thomas Brelage in 28:24.54.

"Congrats to Cole on his first collegiate win," head coach Kori Stoffregen said.

"We will have the men at full strength next weekend at the pre national meet in Louisville.  It's a big race for us."

DePauw competes in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, October 5.
