Tigers Finish Fifth at NCAC Outdoor Championships; Christian Named Distance Runner of the Year

Gambier, Ohio - Led by two individual championships today, DePauw finished fifth at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships with 86 points. Wabash won with 209 followed by Ohio Wesleyan (139), Wooster (113) and Oberlin (93).

After Friday's 10,000-meter title, Paul Christian earned the Men's Distance Runner of the Year honors with a win in the 5,000 meters in an NCAC-record time of 14:45.50. Zach Batt picked up the Tigers' other title today by winning the 1,500 (3:55.13). Batt also was seventh in the 5,000 (15:23.24)

Also earning all-conference honors were Luke Patty with a second in the 400 (49.89) and Callaway Bird third in the 800 (1:56.06). Patty also placed seventh in the 200 (23.54).

Christian Bradford was fifth in the 400 (50.47), while Chase Wright was sixth in the 100 (11.16) and Luke Smith eighth in the long jump (6.31m/20-8.5).

DePauw's 4 x 100 relay of Patty, Wright, Johnny Miller and Bradford was fifth (43.28) and the 4 x 400 relay of Miller, Parry, Bird and Bradford was also fifth (3:25.79).
