Four Firsts Lead DePauw to Fourth Place in Opening Outdoor Meet

Terre Haute, Ind. - Paced by wins in four events, DePauw opened the outdoor season with a fourth-place finish at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Meet. The Tigers totaled 76 points, while Rose-Hulman won with 215. Baldwin Wallace was second with 85 and St. Norbert third with 83.

Luke Patty won both the 200 meters (22.23) and the 400 (50.79) with Michael Ocasek leading the 800-meter field (1:59.76) and Paul Christian taking first in the 5,000 (14:53.96).

Three Tigers scored in the 1,500 led by Callaway Bird's second-place showing (4:04.83). Ocasek was third (4:09.40) and Aaron Worley seventh (4:16.47).

Satchel Oskins placed fifth in the 400 hurdles (1:01.54), while Bird was eighth in the 800 (2:06.62). Johnny Miller finished sixth in the 400 (53.28) and tied with teammate Christian Bradford for eighth in the 200 (23.55).

In the field events, Kamal Apatira was third in the long jump (6.37m/20-19.75) and Tyler Nemeth fourth in the pole vault (4.27m/14-00).

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 6, when it hosts the DePauw Invitational.
