Tigers Win Saturday Match Against RHIT

The 36th-ranked DePauw men's tennis team defeated Rose Hulman on Saturday 7-2 to improve to 4-3 overall this season.

The doubles teams set the tone early with wins at the second and third flights.

Matt Santen and John Daseke started with a quick 8-1 win at No. 3, but No. 1 doubles fell 8-5 shortly after to tie the match at 1-1. At No. 1, Dan Rodefeld and Patrick Farrell lost a service point and fell behind 6-5 and could not capture another game after that.

The No. 2 duo of Nate Wallace and Harold Martin had an up-and-down game in their 9-8 win. They held an early 6-3 lead but Rose-Hulman (7-4) forced them into a tiebreaker, which the Tigers dominated 7-1.

DePauw collected wins in every singles match except the No. 2 flight. Wallace was first off the court, capturing a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. Greg Frauenheim followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.

Rodefeld got in the win column at No. 1 taking the first set 6-0 and winning the second set in a tiebreaker 7-0. Santen won 7-5, 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Petar Barcot won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5

Farrell took the loss at No. 2 6-4, 6-3.

DePauw is off until next Saturday when they host Grand Valley St.
