Greencastle, Ind. - In the home opener of the 2017-18 season, DePauw defeated rival Wabash, 178-113, at Erdmann Natatorium. The Tigers moved to 1-1 on the season, while the Little Giants slipped to 2-1.
Kurt Swieter won three individual events for the Tigers as he touched first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.76), 100 free (48.15) and the 500 free (4:53.03).
Eric Addy was a double-winner in diving after totaling 256.25 points on the 1-meter board and 238.90 in 3-meter competition.
Other DePauw firsts came from Charlie Stewart-Bates in the 1650 free (16:52.09), Marcus Carter-Buckman in the 100 backstroke (52.74), Sam McManus in the 100 breaststroke (58.05), Josh McCown in the 200 butterfly (1:58.48), Aidan Schurig in the 50 free (21.48) and Mitchell Davis in the 200 breast (2:12.05).
The Tigers' 400 free relay of Swieter, Sam Wagner, Schurig and McManus wrapped up the meet with a win in 3:12.57.
DePauw returns to action Nov. 17-19 at the Phoenix Fall Classic at University of Chicago.
