Sholtis Title Lifts DePauw to Third Place at NCAC Championships

Granville, Ohio - DePauw senior Brandon Sholtis picked up the program's third individual North Coast Athletic Conference title and first since 2014 as he touched first in the 50-yard freestyle in an NCAA "B" cut time of 20.65 seconds. That performance helped the Tigers to 437.5 points and third place after two days of the NCAC Championships.

Denison leads with 665 points, while Kenyon is second with 625. Wooster is fourth with 308.

Sholtis' NCAC title is the first since Casey Hooker won the 200 butterfly in 2014. Hooker also captured the 100 fly title in 2013.

DePauw's 200 free relay of Sholtis, Aidan Schurig, Sam Wagner and Sam McManus opened the evening with a third-place showing in an NCAA "B" time of 1:22.41.

Adam Pircon was a ninth-place finisher in the 500 free in 4:40.81 after making a "B" cut in the prelims in 4:33.92.

Mitchell Davis was sixth in the 200 individual medley in 1:53.21, while Sam McManus was tied for fifth in the 50 free in 21.00. Eric Addy was sixth in the one-meter diving with 404.25 points in the finals and 391.45 in the prelims.

The Tigers' 400 medley relay of Kyle Winters, Micah Rhodes, Andrew Byerly and David Freund was seventh in 3:34.93.

DePauw returns to the pool tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Denison University.
