Indianapolis, Ind. -- The Tigers were more than capable of playing on the big stage Wednesday, defeating Franklin 4-1 and moving to 2-1-1 on the season.
The game was played at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis, the home of Indy Eleven, who played following the conclusion of DePauw's day game.
Taras Tataryn scored his first two goals of the season and put DePauw up early 2-0. He scored just 7:10 into the game and 10 minutes later at 17:25. Peter White and Justin Mitchell assisted on the first goal, and Jake Brady assisted on the second.
White himself got into the scoring column less than a minute later, scoring at the 18:00 mark unassisted. It was his first goal of the season.
DePauw took a 3-0 lead into halftime and increased that lead late into the second half when Mitchell scored his first goal at 62:29 thanks to assists by White and Tataryn. Franklin (0-5) scored their lone goal on a penalty kick from Luke Oliver at 78:03.
The Tigers took 26 shots to Franklin's 10. Ben Davis shared goalie duties with three teammates but got the start and recorded the win (2-1-1). Austin Bodner recorded two saves, the only saves of the game for DePauw.
DePauw travels to Centre on Saturday for their next game.
