Springfield, Ohio - Buck Dorger's goal with 3:52 left gave DePauw an 11-10 North Coast Athletic Conference win at Wittenberg. DePauw moved to 5-8 overall and 2-4 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dropped to 4-8 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The game was tight throughout as neither team managed to gain more than a two-goal lead. The teams were tied, 6-6, at halftime before Wittenberg gained a 9-7 lead with 11:15 left in the third. Quinn Roddy countered that goal just 1:06 later before Dorger evened the score with 9:22 left in the quarter. The Tigers took the lead when Will Roberts scored with 5:45 remaining in the third. Neither team scored until Wittenberg's Matthew Welch evened the count with 4:44 left in regulation. Just 52 seconds later, Dorger delivered the game winner on an assist from Roberts.
Steen Jorgensen led the Tigers with three goals, while Roddy, Roberts and Dorger had two apiece and Roberts assisted on a pair. Andrew Ellis led the hosts with three goals and two assists.
Wittenberg won 15 of the 25 faceoffs, but the Tigers held a 36-29 edge in ground balls as Donny Bleifuss led with six in addition to causing three turnovers. Each team totaled 19 turnovers and Wittenberg held a 43-38 edge in shots. DePauw's Charlie Robson recorded 13 saves in goal, while Wittenberg's Max Cavellier finished with 10.
DePauw returns to action on Tuesday, April 23, with a 7 p.m. home contest with Wabash.
