Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw held a 2-1 lead in the opening four minutes of its North Coast Athletic Conference game with Ohio Wesleyan, but the Battling Bishops scored nine straight on the way to a 21-11 victory over the Tigers. DePauw moved to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC, while Ohio Wesleyan improved to 6-6 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
The Battling Bishops scored just 56 seconds into the contest, but DePauw's Jack Richey countered just 48 seconds later and Steen Jorgensen put the Tigers ahead with a score at the 11:32 mark. The Battling Bishops closed the opening quarter with four straight goals before starting the second with three goals in the first 33 seconds. Ohio Wesleyan extended the lead to 10-2 and led, 11-3, at the half.
Ohio Wesleyan led by as many as 12 on multiple occasions before the Tigers scored three straight late in the fourth.
Richey led DePauw with three goals and two assists, while Ohio Wesleyan's Steven Hildebrand had five goals and four assists and Max Tennant added four goals.
Ohio Wesleyan held a 47-34 advantage in shots and the Tigers had 23 turnovers to Ohio Wesleyan's 21. DePauw won 19 of the 35 faceoffs and held a 26-21 edge in ground balls.
DePauw travels to Kenyon on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
