Greencastle, Ind. - Visiting Denison outscored DePauw 10-2 over the middle two quarters and the 11th-ranked Big Red topped the Tigers, 16-6, in the North Coast Athletic Conference opener for both schools. Denison improved to 3-1 overall, while the Tigers are now 0-4.
DePauw held an early 2-1 lead before Denison scored three straight to take the lead for good. The Tigers were still within one at 4-3 before the Big Red closed the half with three straight and opened the second half with three consecutive to take a 10-3 lead.
Steen Jorgensen paced DePauw with two goals, while Will Roberts assisted on three. Brooks Davy paced Denison with five goals with Spencer Butler adding four and Jake Waxter three. Peter Pittroff assisted on four.
Charlie Robson recorded six saves for the Tigers, while Reeves McKenney had seven for Denison.
Denison held a 39-21 shots advantage and led in ground balls, 22-16. The Tigers had 22 turnovers to Denison's 17 and the Big Red won 14 of the 26 faceoffs.
DePauw travels to Elmhurst on Tuesday, March 12, at 6 p.m. CDT.
