Greencastle, Ind. - Will Roberts and Ben Davis each notched hat tricks as DePauw topped Wittenberg, 15-10, in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest at Reavis Stadium. DePauw improved to 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the NCAC with its three straight win, while Wittenberg dropped to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Roberts and Steen Jorgensen scored the game's first two goals and DePauw held the lead the rest of the way. DePauw held an 8-2 halftime advantage after scoring the final five goals of the opening 30 minutes. The host Tigers led by as many as eight on two occasions in the third period and held off a late charge by Wittenberg.
In addition to three three goals apiece from Roberts and Davis, Ben Sherman, Jorgensen and William Dorger added two each. Noah Moderwell paced Wittenberg with three goals, while Jack Strahm and Jerry Coyle each had a pair.
Charlie Robson recorded seven saves for DePauw with Wittenberg's Paxton Kreger totaling nine.
DePauw outshot Wittenberg, 46-29, and held a 24-17 edge in shots on goal. DePauw held a 49-33 advantage in ground balls as Joe Garvey tied a DePauw school record with 14. Anthony LeBarge led Wittenberg with seven.
Garvey won 22 of 26 faceoffs as the Tigers won 24 of 28 as a team. DePauw committed 26 turnovers to Wittenberg's 21. Jeremy Konzen led DePauw with two forced turnovers and LeBarge had four for Wittenberg.
DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 14, when it hosts Hiram at 2:30 p.m.
