Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw scored the game's first six goals and never trailed on the way to a 22-3 win over visiting Kalamazoo at Reavis Stadium. The Tigers are 1-1 on the season, while the Hornets are 0-1.
DePauw needed just 52 seconds to reach the scoreboard as Steen Jorgensen scored before Nate Greenberg and Ben Davis added goals to push the lead to 3-0 after one quarter. The Tigers extended the lead to 9-2 at the half, before scoring 10 straight over the third and fourth quarters.
Ben Sherman paced the Tigers with five goals and three assists, while Quinn Roddy chipped in four scores. Jorgensen and Will Roberts each scored three in the win. Jack Smith led Kalamazoo with two goals.
DePauw outshot the Hornets, 63-17 including 45-5 in shots on goal. The Tigers also scooped up 57 ground balls to Kalamazoo's 21 and won 18 of the 30 faceoffs. DePauw turned the ball just 11 times to Kalamazoo's 31.
Charlie Robson recorded two saves for DePauw, while Tim Grobosky had 23 stops for the Hornets.
DePauw returns to action on Wednesday, February 28, with a 6 p.m. contest at Capital.
