Greencastle, Ind. - Nick Felke hit two free throws with just over four seconds left to secure DePauw's 86-81 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over Denison. The Tigers improved to 16-8 overall and 10-7 in the NCAC, while the Big Red dropped to 6-17 overall and 3-14 in conference play.
Denison scored the game's first seven points, but DePauw scored the next 10 capped by an Andrew Kus 3-pointer which gave the Tigers a 10-7 lead with 13:25 left in the half. The Tigers later used a 12-0 stretch to push the lead to 36-23 on the way to a 44-32 halftime advantage.
Denison chipped away at the Tigers' lead and closed to within 51-45 after Matt Doyle's 3-point play with 14:27 left capped a 9-0 run. DePauw extended the margin back to as many as 13 and still led 79-69 with two minutes remaining.
Doyle's 3-pointer with 27 seconds left closed the gap to 81-79. Felke then hit two free throws, but Doyle countered with a layup with 16 seconds left to make it 83-81. Luke Steinhart made the second of two free throws, but Doyle's 3-pointer was off the mark and went out of bounds with possession going to the Tigers. Felke then hit the two charity tosses to wrap up the victory.
Nolan Ginther led the Tigers with 20 points, while Nick Felke added 19. Each grabbed six rebounds to lead the way. Josh Hall, who missed 10 games due to injury scored 12 points in 16 minutes. Felke dished out a game-high four assists.
Doyle led all scorers with 37 points with Conor Fenton adding 15 and a game-high eight rebounds. Fenton and Doyle each had three assists.
DePauw shot 54.7 percent from the field to Denison's 50.0 percent and the Tigers held a 33-20 edge on the boards.
The Tigers host 14th-ranked Wooster on Saturday at 3 p.m.
