Wooster, Ohio - Host and 14th-ranked Wooster shot 58.9 percent from the floor and never trailed on the way to a 103-71 North Coast Athletic Conference win over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 8-5 overall and 2-4 in the NCAC, while the Fighting Scots improved to 10-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Leading 7-5 in the opening three minutes, Wooster scored the next seven points to start a 15-2 run and DePauw trailed 57-38 at halftime. The Tigers shot nearly 52 percent in the opening half and hit 6 of 9 from 3-point range, but it wasn't enough to overcome Wooster's 64.9 percent effort from the floor and 7 of 10 performance from beyond the arc.
Daymon Hempy led Wooster with 30 points with Reece Dupler adding 28. Hempy and Trenton Tipton hauled down seven rebounds each and Duper dished out four assists.
DePauw finished with 46.3 percent shooting from the floor, but Wooster shot 58.9 percent and attempted 21 more field goals. Each team shot 50 percent from 3-point ranges as DePauw hit 6 of 12 and Wooster 11 of 22. The Fighting Scots held a 38-23 advantage on the boards and turned the ball over just five times to DePauw's 10.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, January 9, with a 6 p.m. game at Denison.
