Jacksonville, Ill. - Ken Decker scored the game's first seven points and DePauw never trailed on the way to a 97-75 win over Principia at Illinois College's Merris Classic. The Tigers moved to 3-0, while the Panthers dropped to 1-3.
Principia drew even at 16-16, but the Tigers scored the next nine and held a 52-40 halftime lead. DePauw's lead was still 12 at 62-50, but a 10-0 Tigers' run pushed the margin to 22 with 12:52 remaining.
Decker led the Tigers with a career-high 20 points including four 3-pointers, while Josh Hall added 16 points and career bests of 12 rebounds and five assists. Andrew Kus followed with 11 points as 12 different Tigers reached the scorebook.
Micah Paulson paced the Panthers with 30 points, while Trevaughn Goodman added 27. Clark Davidson grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
DePauw shot 55.1 percent from the floor to Principia's 44.6 percent and the Tigers hit 14 of 29 3-pointers. The Tigers also held a 39-32 rebounding edge and committed just nine turnovers.
Ginther and Nick Felke were named to the all-tournament team.
The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, November 28, with a 7:30 p.m. game at Rose-Hulman.
