Greencastle, Ind.- The DePauw University field hockey team had four players named to the 2019 All-NCAC field hockey selections.
For a second consecutive year, senior forward Kate Milner was selected for the All-NCAC field hockey first-team, her past performance in 2016 also garnered a spot on the All-NCAC second team. Milner finished the season tied in leading the conference in goals, assists, and points. In 19 games Milner scored 16 goals, seven of which were game-winners, recorded four assists and finished her career at DePauw with a shot on goal percentage of .648.
Junior midfielder Cathy Zesiger was named an All-NCAC field hockey second team for the second time in her career. Zesiger finished the season with two goals and four assists. Of her four assists, Zesiger assisted in two crucial game-winning goals to Milner. Finishing the season with a shot on goal percentage of .667, Zesiger played a crucial role as an impact player on the offensive end, dodging defenders with her stick work and finding teammates within the striking circle.
Earning honorable mentions for the All-NCAC selection this year was senior midfielder Kelsey Doerr and sophomore defender Maria Hewitt. Doerr tallied two assists over the season and lead communication between the midfielders and defensive line on and off the field. Hewitt's efforts this season kept the Tigers in some of its most physical games. Hewitt's aggressive lunging and ability to quickly get back into coverage were a significant reason why she led the team in defensive saves (10).
The Tigers finished the season 10-9 overall, with a 5-3 conference record, earning them the fourth and final spot in conference tournament play this postseason.
