Tigers Late Game Surge Tops Wittenberg in Overtime

Springfield, Ohio- The DePauw University field hockey team extended its win streak to two after beating Wittenberg University 2-1 in overtime.

The Tigers from the opening minute were playing catchup after the Wittenberg Tigers put one past Allie Duranceau.

Fortunately for Duranceau, who tallied a total of seven saves for the night, and the DePauw Tigers that goal would be the only goal Wittenberg would score in the game.

DePauw played well throughout the match, although it was stifled when it came to earning penalty corners the Tigers made up for its missed opportunities on goal in the fourth quarter.

Turning up the pressure and forcing the ball into Wittenberg's defensive half, the DePauw Tigers broke through the Wittenberg Tigers' defensive line, and Kate Milner found Eva Nicholson across the circle to tie the game with just two minutes of regulation left.

Forcing the game into overtime, the DePauw Tigers got onto the field with confidence in its seven verses seven sudden-victory matchup.

From the very beginning, DePauw's speed and ball-handling became too much for Wittenberg to combat, and in the 64th minute of play, Milner fields a ball from Cathy Zesiger and finds the back of the net.

The Tigers improve to 9-7 overall and 4-2 in the NCAC. DePauw comes back home on Saturday, Oct. 29, with a game-time set for noon to play Dension and to celebrate Senior Day.
