Sept. 24, 2019 (Richmond, Ind.)- The DePauw University field hockey team earned its second shutout of the season in its 1-0 win over Earlham College.
Scoreless in the first quarter the Tigers' clean passing and consistent containment kept the Quakers at bay.
In the second quarter, DePauw turned up its pressure and earned its first corner penalty of the game. Although the Tigers didn't immediately score off the corner penalty, it managed to keep play in Earlham's half.
A minute later Christina Bourantas found her way back in the Quakers circle and passed the ball to Alexa Steil who connected with the ball and scored the Tigers lone goal.
Despite being outshot 4-1 throughout the game, DePauw managed to fight off the Quakers' fourth-quarter attacking effort and leaving with its fourth win of the season.
The Tigers head back home for Saturday and Sunday matchups. On Saturday, Sept. 28, DePauw will play Kenyon at Noon to kick off Family Weekend Festivities. Sunday's game also has a game time set for Noon, and the Tigers will face Concordia Wisconsin in Reavis Stadium.
