Simon's Second-Half Hat Trick Sends DePauw to Victory

Mequon, Wis. - Concordia Wisconsin held a 3-1 lead early in the second half before DePauw's Sarah Simon scored three goals in a stretch of 19:10 and the defense shut out the Falcons in the second half for a 4-3 Tigers win. DePauw improved to 8-7 overall, while Concordia dropped to 5-5.

Megan McPike put the Falcons on the board just 10:55 into the contest on Sam Dunn's assist before Kelsey Doerr knotted the contest at 14:27 on Kate Milner's assist.

McPike added a second goal just 28 seconds later and notched a hat trick at 21:19 on a double assist from Ellie Basting and Kelsey Fulton.

Simon's first goal came at 41:32 on Gretchen Bechthold's pass and her game-tying score came at 48:30 off of a corner assisted by Cathy Zesiger and Bechthold. The game-winner came with 9:18 remaining on a corner from Zesiger and Rose Revolinski.

DePauw outshot Concordia, 24-10, including 19-9 on goal. The Tigers also held a 16-3 edge in corners.

Allie Duranceau recorded six saves in goal for DePauw, while Katelyn Fitzgerald stopped 15 DePauw shots.

DePauw travels to Wooster on Saturday, October 20, for an 11 a.m. North Coast Athletic Conference contest.
