Granville, Ohio -- Two of the top field hockey teams in the NCAC opened conference play against one another on Saturday as DePauw left Granville, Ohio with a 4-1 victory over Denison.
DePauw (2-1, 1-0) was projected to finish first in the NCAC preseason poll and received four first place votes from coaches. Meanwhile, Denison (1-2, 0-1) was projected to finish second and received one first place vote.
On Saturday, DePauw scored three of their four goals off penalty corners that Rose Revolinski initiated. And Revolinski finished off the final two herself, scoring her first two goals of the young campaign.
Reilly Bruce was involved in each goal of the game, scoring the first and being credited with an assist on the final three. Bruce raised her goal total on the season to a team-high three.
DePauw held a 2-0 lead at halftime before Denison scored their lone tally at 40:11. However, the one goal difference did not stick for long as the Tigers scored 1:25 later.
Tori Wittemann capped off DePauw's scoring at the 49:40 mark. It was her first goal of the year.
DePauw outshot Denison 18-8, but only took five penalty corners to Denison's 16. Sarah Foye picked up the win in net after recording five saves.
DePauw moves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in league play following the win. They return home tomorrow to face Rhodes at noon.
