Opportunities Missed in Tigers’ Loss

The DePauw field hockey team suffered their first North Coast Athletic Conference loss 2-0 to Kenyon on Sunday.

Despite outshooting the Ladies 17-8 and taking 15 penalty corners, the Tigers failed to score in the entire 70 minutes. Kenyon keeper Sarah Speroff made 11 saves, including some tough ones down the stretch.

Paige Berliner had five shots on goal, and Reilly Bruce had three. Kenyon record five shots on goal as DePauw keeper Sarah Foye made three saves in the loss. Her record drops to 2-1 on the year.

Kenyon struck first at 15:13 when Hannah Paterakis rebounded a shot to score her second goal of the season. It stayed 1-0 until the 68th minute when a late goal from Weezie Foster put the game out of reach for the Tigers.

The Tigers, who entered the contest first in the NCAC, are now 6-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Kenyon sits at 6-3 overall as well but with a 5-1 NCAC record.

DePauw gets a few days off before they host Concordia (WI) on Friday in a non-conference match.
