Greencastle, Ind. - Nate Orrison (Sr.; Wheaton, Ill./Glenbard West) has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division III Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Orrison, who was chosen to the second team defense, was one of 51 student-athletes named to the two teams. The complete list is available here.
A first team all-North Coast Athletic Conference selection at defensive end, Orrison carries a 3.69 cumulative grade point average. The economics major and Spanish minor has been named to DePauw's Dean's List all six semesters.
Orrison led the NCAC this season with 17.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. His sacks rank 12th in Division III and he finished with 44 tackles on the season. His 36 career sacks rank second in school history and are currently second among all active Division III players and fourth among active players on all NCAA levels.
In all, DePauw student-athletes have earned 56 Academic All-America® honors since Ike Tallman's selection to the 1958 football team. The complete list of DePauw honorees is available here.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information/athletics communications staff.
Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America® honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports. The Division III Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Division III Academic All-America® teams.
