Greencastle, Ind. - Off to its first 4-0 start since 2010 and just the second since 1985, the 4-0 DePauw football team hosts Wittenberg on Old Gold Day, Saturday, October 10. Kickoff on Nick Mourouzis Field at Blackstock Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
DePauw is coming off a 38-16 win at Kenyon and brings a 3-0 North Coast Athletic Conference mark into the contest. The Tigers are receiving votes in this week's Division III coaches' poll.
Wittenberg, 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the NCAC, blanked Wooster, 24-0, last Saturday. The Ohio-based Tigers are ranked 20th by D3football.com and 25th in the latest coaches' rankings.
Wittenberg leads the all-time series, 7-2, after taking a 34-17 win last year in Springfield, Ohio. DePauw committed seven turnovers in that game including on five of its final six possessions. The teams were tied, 17-17, at halftime.
The series began in 1893 with DePauw taking a 28-0 win. DePauw's last win in the series was in 1989 by a 14-10 count in Greencastle. Wittenberg has won the last four encounters including all three since DePauw joined the NCAC.
