Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw's season ended abruptly today as visiting Allegheny swept the Tigers by scores of 12-2 and 8-6. The Tigers finished with a 22-15 overall record and 8-8 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while the Gators earned a spot in the NCAC Tournament and moved to 21-15 overall and 10-7 in conference play.
In the opener, Allegheny's Brett Heckert had RBI singles in the second and fourth innings before DePauw's Charlie Patrick evened the score in the sixth with a two-run homer.
The Gators regained the lead in the seventh on run-scoring singles from Max Sessions and Austin Bristol and blew the game open in the ninth by scoring eight runs after two outs were recorded.
Grant Rademacher dropped to 4-3 with the loss, while Sean Kealey improved to 6-3 and Dalton Donachie earned his fifth save.
In the nightcap, DePauw jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first as Patrick again clubbed a two-run homer. Evan Barnes and Williams followed with run-scoring singles before Noah Salasky plated a pair with a base hit.
The remained the way until Allegheny scored one in the sixth, four in the eighth and three in the ninth.
Barnes had two of DePauw's six hits, while Tyler Hettich, Francis Faiello and Vincent Carone each collected two of the Gators' 10 hits.
Brayden White dropped to 2-1, while Nick Tarasi improved to 2-1.
