Tigers Blanked by Saints

Hoover, Ala. - DePauw totaled eight hits but stranded nine runners as Thomas More topped the Tigers, 3-0. DePauw dropped to 0-3 on the season, while the Saints improved to 2-1.

Thomas More scored all it would need in the bottom of the third as B. Ostertag led off by being hit by a pitch and moved to second on Sean Larwence's one-out single. The runners moved up on a ground out before Joshua Boeckmann drove in both with a single.

Ostertag's seventh-inning sacrifice fly plated Brett Benzinger for the Saints' other run.

CJ Yoannou had three of DePauw's eight hits and Jack Omstead added a pair. Boeckmann paced Thomas More with three hits and Benzinger had a pair.

Spencer Youngcourt dropped to 0-1 with the loss, while Bailey Martin moved to 1-0 after going five innings. Justin Ward collected the save after tossing a scoreless ninth.

DePauw faces North Park tomorrow at 11 a.m. CST.
