Tigers Fall to Keystone; Set for Rematch with Wooster

Washington, Pa. – DePauw lost to Keystone 10-3 Saturday morning in the second round of the winner's bracket of the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional hosted by Washington and Jefferson College.

Keystone jumped on the Tigers and starter Mike Hammel with seven first inning runs. Hammel was lifted after recording just one out, and all seven runs were charged to him.

Jack Dillon came in and worked 5.1 innings of relief. He gave up just one run, which was unearned, and struck out four batters.

DePauw scored one run in three separate innings. Hammel recorded a sacrifice fly in the third to score Reid Pittard. Tate Stewart singled in the fifth to score Hammel and Jack Thompson tripled in the ninth to score Ryan Grippo.

Grippo had a season-high four hits and finished 4-for-5 with a run scored. Pittard went 2-for-5 with the only other multi-hit game for the Tigers.

Keystone starter Troy Terzi went 8.2 innings before he was lifted after Thompson's triple in the ninth. He threw 144 pitches and recorded 11 strikeouts.

Keystone (33-13) advances to the championship round where they will face Washington and Jefferson (36-10), who defeated Earlham 15-6 on Friday.

DePauw (32-12) will get NCAC foe Wooster (36-9) in an elimination game. Wooster previously took two over the Tigers in the NCAC Tournament. That game will begin at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
