Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw moved to 10-2 on the season after sweeping a Sunday doubleheader from visiting Rockford at Walker Field which also gave the Tigers a series sweep of the Regents.
The Tigers took game one by an 8-7 count in 10 innings before winning the nightcap by the run rule, 11-1, in eight innings. Rockford dropped to 5-6 with the losses.
In the opener, DePauw struck early with three in the first as Reid Pittard and CJ Yoannou led off with walks and scored on Jack Thompson's triple. Thompson then came home on Tate Stewart's grounder to short.
Ryan Grippo led off the DePauw fifth with a double and scored on Pittard's single to center. The Tigers made it 6-0 in the sixth as Collin Einertson singled and went to second when pinch-hitter Elliot Shebek walked. Grippo then ripped a two-run double to left scoring both.
Rockford chipped away at the lead in the eighth as Kyle Rothrock doubled home a pair, but DePauw was able to tack on one more in the bottom of the frame when Austin Shirley scored on a wild pitch.
The Regents evened the score in the ninth as Jose Miranda drove in two with a bases-loaded single before Austin Smith delivered a run-scoring base hit and Patrick O'Malley followed with a two-run single.
DePauw won the game in the bottom of the 10th as Joey Plesac led off with a single and went to second when Shebek lined to short and the throw to double off Plesac at first was off the mark. Grippo was hit by a pitch and Plesac stole third before Zack Wade delivered a squeeze bunt that scored Plesac.
Pittard and Grippo each had two of DePauw's seven hits. O'Malley paced Rockford with four of their 13 hits with Bryce Hinkelman adding three. Smith and Rothrock had two apiece.
In the nightcap, DePauw again took a 3-0 lead with three in the second as Brayden White drew a bases-loaded walk and Pittard drove in Max Cohen with an infield single with Einertson also scoring on the play.
Pittard tripled with two outs in the fourth and scored on Yoannou's single. The Tigers made it 6-0 in the fifth as Cohen doubled home Plesac and later scored on Einertson's single.
Rockford's lone run came in the seventh as Britton Seivert singled home Brett Down.
DePauw wrapped it up in the eighth as Thompson drew a bases-loaded walk and Mike Hammel delivered a grand slam to left.
Pittard, Hammel, Cohen and White each had two of DePauw's 12 hits, while four different Rockford players collected one each.
Riley Futterknecht moved to 3-0 with six innings of two-hit, shutout pitching. David Camacho dropped to 2-1 with the loss.
DePauw returns to action on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. game at Division I Butler.
