Bob Cathcart earned four varsity letters as a linebacker on the DePauw football team and was instrumental in the Tigers’ resurgence from a 2-7 record in 1978 and 1979 to a school-record nine wins and just one loss in 1981. He was twice named the team’s defensive player of the week, including during his sophomore year when he totaled 10 tackles and intercepted a pass while holding Valparaiso to six points, which was its lowest output of the season. As a senior, he earned the distinction following the team’s 23-14 win over Albion. He finished his career with seven interceptions, including three as a senior. During his senior season, Cathcart recorded 12 tackles against Maryville, intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble. He returned one of the interceptions 22 yards for a touchdown. Cathcart earned a B.A. degree in history and has worked 31 years in the medical device industry, earning numerous awards for sales performance and leadership. He is senior vice president of global sales for Hansen Medical, a startup medical device company. Cathcart previously served as CEO and president of FlowCo Inc., and division president of Datascope, Inc. He also served as director of the American Heart Association for Northern New Jersey for three years and as athletic director at Our Lady of the Magnificat Catholic Church. Additionally, he’s coached travel soccer and basketball for eight years. Cathcart and his wife, Janine, are parents of Alina and Dylan.
