Tigers Open NCAC Play with Five-Set Win over Big Red

Greencastle, Ind. - It took five sets, but DePauw opened North Coast Athletic Conference play with a 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-25, 15-11) win over visiting Denison. DePauw improved to 8-5 overall, while the Big Red dropped to 7-4.

Denison outhits the Tigers, .204-.184 and held a 64-62 advantage in kills, but the Tigers recorded eight total blocks in the win. In the decisive fifth set, DePauw hit .444 to Denison's .204.

Suzanne Peters led DePauw with 17 kills, while Keegan Kollias had 45 assists. Emily Beckes scored three aces along with a team-high 29 digs. Haley Bitzer paced DePauw with four block assists.

The Tigers return to action on Thursday, September 28 at Millikin (7 pm CDT) and are back at the Neal Fieldhouse on Saturday, September 30, with a 1 p.m. match against Wooster.
