Bloomington, Ill. - DePauw suffered its first losses of the season after dropping a pair of matches at Illinois Wesleyan's Barker Chevrolet Classic I. Ohio Northern, ranked 25th in Division III, defeated the Tigers 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22) before host Illinois Wesleyan blanked DePauw 3-0 (27-25, 25-23, 32-30).
In the Ohio Northern match, Liv Hartman recorded a team-high 20 kills, while Suzanne Peters chipped in 12 and Morgan Stearley 11. Keegan Kollias had 46 assists with Kaley Keating supporting the defensive efforts with 20 digs. Haley Bitzer totaled six blocks including one solo, while Meaghan Etling and Kollias each chipped in four.
Each team had 56 kills, with the Polar Bears hitting .208 to the Tigers' .170.
The Illinois Wesleyan match was a tight one with each set decided by two points. Peters led DePauw with 16 kills and hit .310, while Stearley added 15 kills and hit .314. Kollias assisted on 35 of the Tigers' 47 kills with Keating recording 21 digs. Etling and Bitzer each had two blocks in the loss.
The Titans outhit DePauw .275-.263 and held a 52-47 edge in kills.
Stearley and Hartman earned spots on the all-tournament team.
